Talk #1: Scraping for fun and (no) profit
Speaker: Jorge Herskovic
Description: Beginner’s tutorial talk on how to scrape websites to liberate internal information from bad web apps using Python and Playwright.
Lightning talk: Python can do ANYthing: unit-testing in sql
Speaker: Philip Geurin
Description: SQL lacks unit testing. It runs for 45 minutes and THEN tells you you have an error. Python to the rescue!
Talk #2: Code Reviews: The Art and the Science
Speaker: Maria Mckinley
Description: Code reviews can be the bane of developers existence or a catalyst for great teamwork. Let's explore why this is and how we can help teams use code reviews to get to the next level. We will explore some recent findings in psychology/neuroscience to learn about why things can go so badly, and how we can turn that around so that code reviews become a place of great learning and growth. We will also explore the goals of a code review, and what is important to review and what is best left to tools or may not be worth bringing up at all.
