PSQ Street Photography Meeting

Details

Shooting the streets can be an isolating experience. Our group is designed to bring like-minded photographers into a safe and supportive space to help each of us improve our art and technique.

We are (vaccinated) street shooters who gather monthly in a wide-open, well ventilated, secure Pioneer Square (PSQ) studio where we can stretch our legs, have a beer, and offer each other professional feedback and technical advice.

We intentionally limit our monthly gatherings to 8 participants so that we can each receive about 15 minutes of detailed critique on our photographs. Our purpose is to help one another improve our art through honest, professional critique and feedback.

We welcome all styles and levels, but want members to have a portfolio of street work to share – whether it be of public spaces, more journalistic news events, street portraits, street abstracts, or urban environmental shots. At each meeting we will review up to 5 of your images that you will bring to the group on a thumb drive or via a URL that you share with us. In turn, you will commit to providing honest and supportive feedback to your fellow photographers.

The studio is fully equipped with several windows for natural light and air flow; a kitchenette; bathroom; Wi-Fi; and a big screen for photo sharing.

We’ll ask for a small $5 donation at the meeting for foodstuffs -- beers, snacks, coffee, etc. and Meetup monthly fees. And you can feel free to bring your own bagged meal or food stuffs to share, since we’ll be meeting around dinner time. Street parking is normally OK after 6PM on weekdays; $4/hr garage options are a couple blocks away.

We'll start to gather in the studio at 6PM and dive into critiques no later than 6:30 so we can finish up in a timely manner.

We’ll also schedule occasional photo walks and special events as the demand calls, but the core of our group will happen in the studio space where we discuss our work.

Let’s do it! Let’s bring our passion and experience to the table with each critique and help one another grow in our street shooting!

One more thing: For the safety of us all, and to help insure that we are able to continue to meet in person, don’t join our group if you have chosen not to be vaccinated. We’ll rely on the honor system for this, so please be vaccinated and healthy when you join our meetings.
