Introduction: Psychiatric drug withdrawal remains a largely hidden, stigmatized and rarely discussed issue that affects countless individuals. Such drugs are typically prescribed for a multitude of common human conditions under the umbrella of mental health disorders. Such disorders include (but are not limited to): anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, PMDD. Examples of such drugs include (but are not limited to): antidepressants, antipsychotics, benzodiazepines.

Objective: The purpose of this group is to provide a safe, inclusive environment to share experiences, provide resources, offer support, and navigate the challenges of psychiatric drug withdrawal.

Participants: Open to (but not limited to): individuals currently experiencing psychiatric drug withdrawal; individuals with past experiences of psychiatric drug withdrawal; individuals considering coming off of psychiatric drugs; family members, partners, friends and/or support teams relating to psychiatric drug withdrawal.

Events: In-person meetings will take place on the North Shore (1), and involve a weekly, biweekly or monthly meeting (3). This will be in the format of a dialogue or “talking” circle (4). Topics will include such things as: symptoms and self-care, finding meaning, resources for healing and coping, primary sources of information and so much more.

(1) Location will be indoor or outdoor pending weather and/or procurement of a regular meeting place. Likely an accessible area such as Lonsdale Quay.

(2) Meetings/activities can be tailored to meet the needs of the group.

(3) Dialogue circle format amenable to change.

(4) Topics will be gauged based the on interests/needs of participants.
