Understanding Anxiety: What’s Happening in the Body and Brain
Details
Anxiety often feels overwhelming, confusing, or hard to control — not because something is wrong, but because the nervous system is doing exactly what it evolved to do.
This one-time, 90-minute educational session offers a clear, grounded explanation of how anxiety actually works, beginning with the biology of the nervous system and moving into perception, emotion, and lived experience. Rather than focusing on coping strategies or treatment techniques, the emphasis is on understanding the mechanics behind anxious reactions — and why insight alone often doesn’t change them.
The goal is orientation and clarity: helping participants understand why anxiety feels so powerful, why it repeats, and why it often shows up as urgency, threat, or self-criticism even when logic says otherwise.
Important notes:
• This is an educational presentation, not therapy or a support group
• There is no expectation of sharing personal experiences
• Questions are welcome and will be addressed at a general, conceptual level
