About us

GROUP DESCRIPTION
This is a friendly, laid-back, judgment-free discussion group. The goal is to establish a tight-knit group of people who hang out on a semi-regular basis (biweekly or monthly) and discuss topics related to psychology and mindfulness. The majority of meetings will be online, but there may be occasional in-person events for those who live around Rhode Island. As of now, the conversation will be free-form, with no predetermined topics selected; this may change depending on the group's preferences. Whether you're a total beginner or just curious, you’re more than welcome to join; no expertise or qualifications are necessary. Please participate however you feel most comfortable, whether that’s just listening or joining via audio-only. Thank you kindly for joining — if you know someone who would be interested in joining, please feel free to invite them!

RULES
• Stick to topics that are grounded and practical.
• Do not hog the conversation — keep contributions to a minute or two in the beginning.
• This space is open to all religions, but do not proselytize or impose views on others.
• Feel free to invite others to participate, but do not call on a particular person as some prefer to just listen.
• Do not DM someone without permission first. If you'd like to talk to others beyond this conversation, leave your email in the chat.
• No hate speech, discrimination, or harassment.
• No spamming or solicitation.
• Refrain from discussing politics.
• Respect boundaries and triggers.

FORMAT
Discussions are open-ended; there is no set topic. We can discuss psychological or mindfulness topics — they don't necessarily have to intersect. In the beginning, we will change topics every 10–15 minutes and allow a new person to choose the topic each time. Please try to keep the conversation grounded: if you discuss something abstract, esoteric, philosophical, or intellectual, please try to relate that to real life and your experiences.

ABOUT ME
I am a graphic designer moving into mental health. I am interested in psychology, philosophy, sociology, and the creative arts. I suffer from debilitating mental health conditions and practice mindfulness in my daily life. I get along with everyone, please don't hesitate to reach out!
