Right bf Xmas - distributed synchronous replication!
Details
Just right before Xmas... don't go without saying proper goodbye to this year!
We'll be meeting on the 18th December at grow.inc spaces, in Arroios with some snacks and beers!
AGENDA
7pm - BUILDING FAST DISTRIBUTED SYNCHRONOUS REPLICATIONS AT MemSQL
One of the headline features of the most recent MemSQL release - our new replication system. In particular, focusing on how we managed to achieve high throughput synchronous replication such that the difference in throughput in most cases is less than 10% when compared to asynchronous replication.
RODRIGO GOMES
Senior engineer working for MemSQL in San Francisco. I specialize in building distributed systems, transaction processing, and replication
7.30pm - POLYGLOT DATA MANAGEMENT
Database systems, particularly the ones that aim at cloud computing infrastructures follow a decoupled view between data processing and storage. The diversity of underlying data storage solution, particularly NoSQL databases provide a lot o flexibility in terms of elasticity and data formats, but disable holistic query engines to query data from distinct data sources. Polyglot data management allows for a query engine to build execution plans from distinct NoSQL sources in a single query.
FÁBIO COELHO
Senior researcher of HASLab (High Assurance Software Lab), one of INESC TEC’s - Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering, Technology and Science, research units. His research is focused on cloud based hybrid databases, cloud computing, distributed systems, P2P/ledger based systems and benchmarking.
Hope to see you there!
