You've been looking for a scuba group that actually dives? YOU'VE FOUND IT!
FREE mask, snorkel, and weight replacement program for members!
A SAFETY-FOCUSED, NO-DUES, NON-PROFIT, INDEPENDENT SCUBA GROUP that dives more than any other club or group in San Diego (and beyond)!
Whether you dive occasionally or every week, Power Scuba is the fun, easy way to stay connected with the underwater scene in San Diego county and beyond. Explore familiar and brand new dive spots throughout Southern California (and overseas).
Safe diving within your personal limits and skillset is our emphasis. Advanced & technical dives will occur (for qualified members), in addition to our normal dives, but safety is not just lip service with us.
Eco-mindedness, in addition to safety, is always at the forefront of our thinking. The group participates in (and hosts) various environmental programs and our president represents our no-fishing (for fish) group to various orgs and entities. What better ocean stewards than those who peer beneath the surface regularly?
WE ACTUALLY DIVE, NOT JUST TALK ABOUT IT! All certification levels are welcome at this no-profit group. We're fun, often irreverent, and very, very passionate about our diving and the environment. Sound good? Do you want to see more of San Diego diving, both from the shore and boats? In need of a dive buddy? Join up now!

La Jolla Cove, 1100 Coast Blvd, San Diego, CA, USPlease make sure to sign our liability releases online once per calendar year. It's quick and easy, just follow this link: (http://waiver.powerscuba.org)
**Please send a Meetup message to the event organizer if your name of the waiver does not match you Meetup name.*****
Let's dive La Jolla Coves!
Many seasoned local divers call La Jolla Cove the best shore dive in the county. It's got it all - shallow rocky reefs, kelp forests, caverns and swim-throughs. You have the chance to see a wide variety of large marine life - schools of fish, giant sea bass, horn sharks, harbor seals, sea lions, and seasonal bat rays, sevengill, tope, and leopard sharks!
But please consider: When conditions are sub-par, the Cove can be a tedious place to dive. Poor visibility, surge, and a mean shore break that can roll you in the sand (and over boulders if you're not paying attention). And there's the trudging up two flights of steps. If surf is up or the water is churning, head over to the Shores instead and see if conditions are better; they often are.
The Verdict: The Cove can be spectacular but we have to stress how important it is to assess the conditions before entering the water. Note the exit is typically more difficult than entry. Take a good look at the pattern of sets coming in. Watch other divers. Then judge for yourself if you'll be comfortable exiting the water under those conditions. Also, be sure to exit just right of the stairs, when looking at them from the water, to avoid the rocks.
WHERE: Meet us on the big grass area close to the bathrooms
WHEN: Check the start time in the header. Please be on time and set your RSVP to 'no' if you can't make it.
PARKING: One never knows what's going on at La Jolla Cove - it's a popular place! If nearby street parking is full, drop your gear off by the loading zone and find a spot further away.
BRING: All of your own dive gear (including weights and tanks). This is scheduled to be a one tank dive, but feel free to bring an extra tank in case conditions are nice enough for two. Check our Shops and Instructors list in the Discussions/Message Board area if you need to rent something. A tarp is good for gearing up/down.
Your hosts are volunteers and there at the event to dive themselves. If you are here on vacation and need a guide or training, there are professional dive operations that provide these services. Do not expect to buddy with the host, but you can usually find a buddy at the event.
- Ensure you are properly weighted!
- You must perform a good Pre-Dive Buddy Check prior to water entry.
- You are responsible for yourself on every dive. Not the host, lifeguards, your more-competent buddy, nor anyone else. Only YOU.
SEE YOU THERE!!!

ADMIN STUFF YOU MUST READ:
The Virtual Donation Jar (https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/f433c0f4-116c-4e51-9e77-1527d9a8667b) to cover the cost of maintaining our organization and general fund. It's strictly voluntary but is very much appreciated and needed.
Disclaimer and Clarification
Anyone with a medical condition possibly counter indicative to diving must have a doctor's signature on a diving waiver form and submit a signed form to Bill Powers (or an organizer) before they may attend any Power Scuba event. YOU MAY NOT ATTEND AN EVENT WITH UNDISCLOSED MEDICAL CONDITION. Doing so is grounds for expulsion from the group.
Attending any scuba event Power Scuba facilitates constitutes attendee's affirmation they are medically fit to dive, have read the Terms and Conditions, and have submitted a signed Liability Release to an organizer... and that your buddy (if any) has done the same.
Important Note: It is not the organizer's role to lead your dive. He/she merely facilitates you getting to the pre-dive meeting location. The Organizer will not assign you a buddy nor will he/she be leading the dive as a "group dive". Visibility and liability do not allow for that. When you enter the water, you are on your own. You must plan and execute your dive with your dive buddy only. Once members arrive at the meeting spot, the Organizer becomes simply another diver.
Your participation constitutes your affirmation you agree to these above rules and disclaimers.
