Enhancing the Python community and ecosystems, one developer focused event at a time.
Submit talks: https://bit.ly/bapyacfp đ
Started in Nov 2008, SF Python is the largest, longest running community-run meetup in SF Bay Area. Each year, our dedicated team of volunteers produce 20+ developer focused, live events for Pythonistas to connect, learn, share, and grow together.
As a member of our community, you agree to adhere to our code of conduct. Please see our Code of Conduct page for further details.
Why do we put these events up?
We believe there is power in in-person interactions. Â We believe in learning, sharing, and helping each other out. Â And we have seen the results. Â We have heard stories of people getting their problems solved because of the talks and the people they met at our events. Â We have witnessed people grow in their career, from receiving their first internship to landing their first speaking gig at conferences. Â We have even heard companies migrating to a different platform/technologies after attending our conference. Â
We look forward to your joining this awesome community - be it attending our events, giving a talk, donating your venue space, or supporting us financially via sponsorship!Â
Hope to see you at some or more of the following events!
- Presentation Night on the 2nd Wednesday of each month features intermediate to advanced level tech talks from Python Software Foundation members, core developers of open-source projects, and local software engineers. Â

SCHEDULED TALKS
đ Seeking validation: An introduction to Pydantic - Liz Acosta
Since its release in 2017, Pydantic has quickly become one of the most used data validation libraries for Python. Thanks to the power of Rust, Pydantic offers developers a quick, flexible, and reliable solution to wrangling Pythonâs dynamic typing when getting it right the first time really matters.
This talk will provide attendees with an introduction to Pydantic, how itâs different, its benefits and challenges, and practical use cases. Attendees will get to see Pydantic data modeling in action as we demo parts of the Vonage Python SDK before and after adoption.
As a dependency of the wildly popular FastAPI framework, understanding Pydantic is not only strategically important for developers, but expands on the inherent power of the Python language.Liz Acosta is a Developer Advocate at Vonage. While her career path from film student to marketer to engineer to Developer Advocate might seem unconventional, itâs pretty typical for Developer Relations! Liz loves pizza, plants, pugs, and Python. She is especially fond of the magic that happens at the intersection of tech and community.
When Liz is not working or anxiously contemplating the meaning of life, she can be found writing corny poetry about dogs, dancing at underground art parties, advocating for more liberation-based mental health resources, and â weather permitting â praying she doesnât fall dismounting the chairlift on her snowboard.đ Simplified Python hosting and scale to zero on Phemeral - Chinmaya Joshi
Setting up hosting, implementing continuous deployment, and ensuring that provisioned compute correctly scales up and down can be tedious. This session will demonstrate how to host Python web services, set up continuous deployment, and set up scale to zero with Phemeral. Phemeral is a cloud platform specifically for Python web services.Chinmaya is the founder of Phemeral.dev. He was previously an engineer at BoodleBox where he built Python web services.
