Join us at the **St. Lukas Church** at 7:00 PM and let your words make an impact! **Agenda of the evening:** **Welcome and Introductions:** The Toastmaster of the Day (TMOD) often opens the meeting, who welcomes everyone and introduces the meeting's theme or agenda. The TMOD also introduces the key roles and functionaries for that session. **Prepared Speeches:** A significant portion of the meeting is dedicated to prepared speeches. Members working through various projects in the Toastmasters education program deliver speeches based on their chosen projects. Each speech is evaluated by a designated evaluator who provides feedback on strengths and areas for improvement. **Table Topics:** Table Topics is a segment where impromptu speaking skills are tested. The Table Topics Master presents a series of short, unprepared speaking challenges or questions, and members or guests are invited to come to the podium and give a brief, improvised response. **Evaluations:** Following the prepared speeches and Table Topics segment, evaluators provide constructive feedback to speakers. These evaluations focus on content, delivery, body language, and time management. The goal is to help speakers improve their speaking skills. **Reports and Functionary Roles:** The meeting may include various functionary roles, such as the Timer, Grammarian, Ah-Counter, and others, who report on their observations and contributions to the session. These roles help members improve their language and time management skills. **General Evaluator:** The General Evaluator provides an overall assessment of the meeting, highlighting what went well and offering suggestions for improvement. They may also evaluate the evaluators' performance. **Awards and Recognitions:** Toastmasters sessions often conclude with awards and recognitions, including the Best Speaker, Best Evaluator, and Best Table Topics Speaker. These awards encourage members to strive for excellence in their speaking and leadership abilities. **Closing:** The meeting concludes with closing remarks from the Toastmaster of the Day, who may express gratitude to participants and encourage them to continue their Toastmasters journey. **Networking and Socialising:** After the formal meeting, members and guests often have the opportunity to network, socialise, and discuss their experiences in a more relaxed setting. We'll cover how we approached platform building as gardeners rather than architects: observing what already works, replicating it, and letting rituals emerge before encoding them. We'll look at some mistakes we made along the way and what we learned from each. *Dayana Mick* **It works… but no one understands it: The hidden problem in DevOps** For several years, I kept asking the same question to senior developers, staff engineers, and mentors: “What is a build?” I rarely got a clear answer. Not because people didn’t know, but because the mental model had faded somewhere between Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, and “just run this command.” At some point, I realized I could run pipelines, deploy services, and fix things just enough to move forward, but explaining what was actually happening was much harder. And I was not the only one. This talk is about a pattern I’ve seen across every company I’ve worked at. Systems that work, but are not really understood. Teams running platform commands from memory. Platform teams becoming bottlenecks. Incidents where even experienced engineers hesitate. And situations where people rely on tools without a clear sense of what is actually happening underneath. With AI, this is only accelerating. This is a talk for anyone who has ever copy-pasted a command, watched it work, and decided not to ask further questions. Unseren Lesestoff wählen wir demokratisch aus. Bestseller, Geheimtipp oder Lieblingsbuch – wir entscheiden bei unseren Treffen gemeinsam, welchen Titel wir für den nächsten Monat auf die Agenda nehmen. Die Teilnahme ist auf 12 Personen begrenzt, weil sich in einem größeren Kreis leider nicht gut diskutieren lässt. Und hier das Buch für's nächste Treffen. **Dorothee Elmiger, Die HOLLÄNDERINNEN** Dorothee Elmigers nimmt den realen Fall zweier Holländerinnen, die 2014 beim Wandern in Panama verschwanden und von denen später nur Skelette gefunden wurden zum Ausgangspunkt ihres schmalen Buches von nur 160 Seiten. Der Fall der verschwundenen Frauen führt eine Gruppe von Menschen, angeführt von einem Theatermacher, in den Dschungel und die Geschichte wuchert aus in ein Chaos von Gedanken, Erfahrungen und Reflexionen, die wild und verwirrend sind wie der Urwald selbst. Es ist kein leichtes Buch, eher ein intellektuelles Spiel mit Verweisen auf Literatur des Grauens und die Probleme des Erzählens. Es wurde mit Literaturpreisen überhäuft, bietet jede Menge Stoff für Deutungen, mag gefallen oder abgelehnt werden - ist also das Richtige für eine angeregte Diskussion.
