Welcome to the new virtual format of the Catan meet up. We use Catan Universe to play online. Log on to CatanUniverse.com and be ready to share your username with the group. If you have reached level 3 within Catan Universe, please join the Guild most of us are in called Settlers of Gotham. The most popular platform to play CU is through Steam, although some play via their web browser. At the time of the meetup, first connect to the Zoom link provided to meet everyone. We will share our screen names on Catan Universe and start a game via Catan Universe. We will go to breakout rooms, if we have more than one game going. It is ok to join at any time. We will do our best to accommodate everyone. If you haven't set up an account with Catan Universe, please try to do it before the meet up time as it suggests a tutorial. This session: General information: Sue Schneider will guide you through this meditative drawing art form. Step-by-step, you will learn the basic process for creating a small, abstract design using repetitive pattern skills. Zentangle is easy, relaxing and stress-free; perfect for "these challenging times". FIRST-TIMERS: If you are brand new to Zentangle, I'm happy to send you my Beginner's Guide, that will fill you in on background, basic techniques and some starter patterns. Just email me at sue.schneider.artist@gmail.com with "Beginner's Guide Request" in the subject line. Our lesson will begin promptly at noon. The lesson will be about 75-90 minutes. Sue will demonstrate patterns and techniques for you to follow along. During the last few minutes we'll share our creations and wrap-up. There are 2 sessions each month, on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays. At each session we'll follow the basic Zentangle method and explore a variety of themes and topics, often with new pattern introductions and techniques beyond the basics (e.g., shading, color, non-abstract, use of tinted papers, etc.) SUPPLIES NEEDED: Please provide a standard pencil, a fine tipped black marker, and paper on which to draw. Optional: Tortillion (blending stub), colored pencils, white and red fine tipped markers/pens. Pen recommendations: Sakura Pigma Micron 01; Uniball Vision Micro; Sharpie Fine (look for "**no-bleed**" on the package, solid black barrel). Paper: We usually work on a 3.5" square paper (called a "tile"). Good quality papers that work well are Strathmore Vellum Bristol, 95# or 140# water color paper, a "Mixed Media" sketchbook, 65# card stock. Recently I have often used a 4x6" blank index card. This is the weekly meeting of the Dallas Scrabble Club, now occurring online at https://woogles.io/club/dallasbedford due to COVID-19 restrictions. Woogles.io is a new web site for players everywhere. We have had great response to playing online at a previous site and have had as many as 16 players show up each week. It makes for a fun diversion for all of us. We play 4 official games on Thursdays. After those 4 games, players are free to play whoever they want on this game site. Each week you plan to attend, I will need to know by 6 pm on Thursday that you are definitely coming, and that you will be onsite by 7 pm that night. That way, I can pair people up in advance to play four games without too much delay in getting set up. If you prefer to play FEWER than four games, please include that info in your response. Please do set up an account on the Woogles site prior to joining the club meetings on Thursday nights and send your player name for Woogles to me so I can set up the games for each expected player.
