Would you like to learn how to TEACH fly casting? Have you struggled to figure out whether to tell a beginning caster they need to use more or less wrist? Push the rod with the thumb or index finger? If so, then this is the clinic for you!
Our very own TFF member and staff of NC Wildlife Resources Commission Matt Rieger will be teaching a select few members the Joan Wulff method of casting. National Casting Champion Joan Wulff revolutionized the art of casting in the 1960s and 70s, and her methodology is standard at North Carolina's public casting classes. You may show up only to learn you've been doing it all wrong this whole time, so come with an open mind!
Please join us for 3 hours of "instructor instruction". Sign up if you mentor new fly casters, if you teach family and friends to cast, or if you're interested in helping TFF run casting clinics in the future!
This clinic is NOT intended for beginning casters.
Attendance is VERY limited, and we expect the few available spots to fill up quickly, so only RSVP if you are 100% confirmed.
Please bring a 5 or 6wt rod/reel combo for the clinic. Wear good sun protection and bring a bottle of water. We are checking the budget before we confirm whether or not lunch will be provided, so be sure to check this space a few days before.
Also be sure to bring a box of warmwater flies and some good wading gear or a paddle boat. The cicada hatch will be in full swing, so we will spend the afternoon chucking fluff to some fishes!
