Join us this month as our guest speaker Jonathan Neyman from The Fly Box shares his lifelong passion for fly fishing and takes us on a journey from East Tennessee's world-class tailwaters to the legendary waters of Chilean Patagonia.
About Jonathan:
Growing up in Northern California in the early '80s, Jonathan was introduced to fly fishing at a young age, with his curiosity first sparked watching drift boats and wade anglers chase salmon and steelhead on the South Fork of the Eel River. Forty-four years later, that passion continues to shape his life and career, having taken him to the Caribbean, Patagonia, Chile, and across many western states in pursuit of fish on the fly.
After moving east in the late '80s for college, Jonathan discovered the small streams of the Great Smoky Mountains and the region's tailwater fisheries. In the mid-2000s, he found the South Holston and Watauga rivers and was hooked—spending every weekend he could with his family exploring these tailwaters and surrounding mountain streams.
That passion led Jonathan and his wife to open The Fly Box , a family-run, full-service fly shop and guide service now approaching its fifth year in business. Both of his sons work as guides alongside them, and the shop also hosts destination trips to Chilean Patagonia. Their philosophy is simple: if it's on the wall, we fish it.
