If the café Philo waitlist is once again testing your philosophical patience, here’s a more digestible alternative.

I’ve booked a table for eight at Marina Mezze, a lovely spot serving Lebanese and Turkish dishes in a light, welcoming atmosphere that naturally encourages lingering conversation and questionable theories about the nature of reality. Or hummus.

There’s a big discount on our reservation - I book when I spot an opportunity! So there’s no grand plan, no commissions being paid & no hidden falafel cartel. Just a good table and (hopefully) good company.

There isn’t any official philosophy planned for the evening, it’ll be free flowing banter. But experience suggests that when curious people sit down together with good food, the conversation tends to wander into interesting territory anyway. Expect lively, intelligent, occasionally ridiculous discussion about… well, whatever emerges.

A gentle request about commitment:
This only works if the people who click “going” actually materialise in three-dimensional space. So this may not be the event for maybes, heroic over-committers, or those who discover a sudden and overwhelming attachment to their sofa an hour beforehand.

If you ghost, you don’t just leave an empty chair — you’ve taken a seat from someone else who might happily have filled it. And it’s only fair to the restaurant offering us the discount.

So: eight seats, good food, lively minds.
If you’re in, you’re very welcome 😊
