Who are we as humans – as a group and as individuals? Many argue that classifying a human being just as belonging to the species homo sapiens is not adequate. We could say that our substance goes beyond what’s material. Some medieval thinkers even described human psyche as a microcosm.
What makes us different from animals and Artificial Intelligence? Carl Rogers and Søren Kierkegaard, one a famous psychotherapist and the other a famous philosopher, observed that the common kind of despair is to feel you are not being true to yourself. Is this part of what we call “the human condition”? Is suffering necessary to reach the full human potential?
