Pueblo Humanists will host our December speaker, Michael D. Briscoe, PH.D at 7:00 p.m. to 8:20 p.m. on Thursday, December 11 at Rawlings Library at 100 E. Abriendo Ave. in room Bret Kelly A. He will present "Stocks or Stakeholders: Entangled Interests of Humans and Animals". Whether you care about animals or not, their interests affect humans. From natural disasters to car crashes to pandemics, human and animal destinies are intertwined. In this talk, Dr. Briscoe draws on sociological theories to discuss these topics as presented in his book, Stocks or Stakeholders. Michael Briscoe is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at CSU Pueblo. He earned his Ph.D. from Utah State University in environmental sociology and has published research on pro-environmental behavior, renewable energy attitudes, the carbon intensity of well-being, and human-animal relationships. At CSUP, he teaches courses on sociological theory and environmental sociology. Dr. Briscoe also teaches as part of the Inside-Out Prison Exchange Program.
