Beginner Dragon Boat Practice - Sunday at 9:30 - Miami Rowing Club

COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS: Effective 11/6/22: We are no longer checking vaccination status nor requiring masks, and thereby have no current protocols in place specific to COVID-19. We reserve the right to bring back vaccine requirements or any other appropriate precautions in the future as deemed necessary based on the conditions. We strongly advise being up-to-date with COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters, and as of this writing all of our members who will be assisting are fully vaccinated.

IMPORTANT NOTE: These events will fill up on a regular basis. We may or may not be able to accommodate everyone on any given weekend, and there will often be a waiting list on the event. Please be courteous and update your responses if your plans change, so you're not taking up someone's seat.

The minimum age for a paddler is 14 years old.

The new member boat will meet up at the big blue tent in front of the Miami Rowing Club building, promptly at the scheduled start time. Our coaches will then go over the basics of dragon boating with you on land, do some basic stretches and then we will get on the dragon boat and learn by doing! No previous experience is required. Puff provides life vests, seat cushions and paddles. We recommend bringing a bottle of water or sport drink, and wearing sun screen and clothing suitable for exercise and getting wet. Sunglasses, gloves and hat are worn by most of our paddlers as well but are not required. Practice lasts roughly 2 hours including land talk, loading, and putting boats away.

If you do not see a large number of attendees, don't worry. Our member's only practice is right before the new member boat and veterans join the practice to teach and encourage you on your first dragon boat experience!

Sometimes we grab lunch afterward at The Daily or other spots, you are welcome to join us.

Directions: As you're coming in towards Key Biscayne, take the double left turn lanes going toward the Marine Stadium. Take a right and go through the big parking lot to the smaller gated lot at the Rowing Club. From the parking lot, you'll see the blue tent meeting area. If you're early and you don't see us, it's because we're still on the water from our previous practice.
