Gorakhgad Night Trek
Details
Gorakhgad is a small fort located on Murbad road and is easily accessible for both Mumbai and Pune people. It is named after Saint Gorakhnath who used to perform penance here. It provides the thrill of steep stair climbing and magnificent views of Siddhagad, Ahupe Ghat and the adjoining Machindragad peak. Just below the summit, there's a huge cave that can be used for night stay. The trek is good for beginners and regular trekkers as the trek till cave is easy followed by a steep climb to the summit.
The Plan
March 13th, Sat
1330 hrs : Departure from Pune in Pvt vehicle
1500 hrs : Mumbai participants' pickup
1700 hrs : Start trek after getting packed dinner
1930 hrs.: Reach Cave
March 14th, Sun
0600 hrs : Summit climb
0730 hrs : Descend after enjoying sunrise.
1000 hrs : Breakfast at base village followed by departure.
Fee: Rs. 1800Includes travel, packed dinner and breakfast.Excludes sleeping bag/mat.(available on rent)
Guidelines
- Wear comfortable clothing, along with trekking/sports shoes.
- Extra pair of clothes, slippers can be kept in the base village.
- Carry a torch.
- 4 L water
- Electral, fruits, energy bars, snacks etc.
- A light jacket
- Sleeping bag/mat.
- Carry personal medicines, if any.
- Do not smoke or drink alcohol during the trek.- Do not litter.
