Talk:
Unpacking Kafka on Kubernetes - Solving Application Scaling Challenges
Abstract:
Discover how Apache Kafka transformed a complex application architecture into a scalable, resilient one.
The talk will start with first showcasing the existing app architecture. Then I will talk about the scaling needs and how they were achieved. Next I will showcase the problems scaling the architecture created — specifically the application level issues related to websocket connectivity. Next I will explain how I introduced Kafka as a service layer across Kubernetes clusters to fix the issues. Later on I will explain how introducing Kafka helped us scale even further, towards Multi Cloud.
In short, learn how Kafka, deployed across Kubernetes clusters, became the backbone of the solution, enabling seamless scaling and solving critical application-level challenges. Explore my journey in the challenges I faced in implementing a multi cloud Kafka cluster and how Kafka can drive architectural resilience.

Talk:
Building Real-Time Event Driven Systems with Apache Kafka
Abstract:
This session will explore how Apache Kafka enables scalable real-time event-driven architectures for modern applications. The talk will cover Kafka fundamentals, practical architecture patterns, microservices communication, and real-world use cases across AI, automation, and cloud-native systems. Attendees will also get insights into deployment considerations, observability, and best practices for building reliable streaming applications.

Talk:
Create your Kafka setup with zookeeper and KRaft (Hands-on)
Abstract:
In this session, we’ll take a practical tour of Kafka internals—focusing on how brokers, producers, and consumers actually work under the hood—before rolling up our sleeves for a hands‑on setup. You’ll learn how to spin up a single-node Kafka environment with zookeeper for quick test use case on your local machine and then build out a three-controllers four brokers Kafka cluster with KRaft step by step, so you can confidently reproduce a real-world Kafka setup on your own machine.
Bio:
Akshay Anil Utale is a Technical Support Engineer at Confluent. He fixes Kafka issues, assisting customers in investigating and resolving Kafka-related issues. He works daily with complex Kafka clusters, handling a wide range of challenges across Apache Kafka, Confluent Kafka, and their associated components.
