While nearly 100 dogs are now safe and rehomed from the Raisin Tree seizure in Fowlerville this past May, we still have some work to do. We need to make sure the court system knows that people care about animal issues and that the public is watching. We need prosecution and tough sentencing to deter irresponsible and neglectful breeders.

You can do two things to help support the Livingston County Animal control who worked hard to make sure the laws were enforced and the animals were removed.

  1. Please send a hard copy letter to Judge Michael P. Hatty, who will be following sentencing guidelines for the Elaine Kormorny case (#4022030). Below is a sample letter. Make sure you include the case number.

  2. Attend the sentencing next Thursday 7/17/14 at 8:30 AM at the Judicial Center Court Room #4. Court dates often change, so please check for updates on this event before you leave. RSVP on our Meetup.

Honorable Michael P. Hatty,

I am writing to you regarding the case involving Margaret Elaine Kormorny owner of Raisin Tree Farms (Case 14022030 Animal Abandonment and Cruelty). In light of the this careless neglect and the suffering that the animals endured, I urge you to ensure that this crime is fully punished—with sentencing conditions that include psychological counseling and an extended ban on contact with animals.

Sincerely,
