What we’re about

This is a group for adults in Düsseldorf who are passionate about exploring pure mathematics — its abstract beauty, surprising patterns, and philosophical depth.

We welcome anyone with a strong interest in mathematics: whether you're self-taught, professionally trained, or somewhere in between. Our meetups offer a chance to dive into topics ranging from number theory and topology to mathematical logic and the philosophy of math — all in an open, friendly environment.

Through informal talks, reading sessions, and discussions, we explore:

  • What mathematical objects are
  • How different branches of math connect
  • Why certain structures and proofs feel so “elegant” or “deep”
  • And what mathematics can tell us about truth, abstraction, and even reality itself

Example Topics We May Cover

  • Infinity, paradoxes, and the foundations of set theory
  • Prime numbers, symmetry, and Galois theory
  • Algebraic geometry and the shape of solutions
  • The logic of proofs and incompleteness
  • The nature of mathematical truth: Platonism vs. formalism
  • Category theory: the “mathematics of mathematics”
  • Connections between math and physics or computer science
