“Automate” your autotests: Hidden benefits of having WEB API schemas (HYBRID)

You’ll learn about the less obvious usage of WEB API schemas for building reliable products. What are fuzz and property-based testing? How would these techniques help you achieve a high level of compliance/resilience/solidity/confidence/another buzzword your manager loves? After these talks, you’ll have answers and be equipped with tools to start testing your existing WEB APIs.

Preparing “Automated” tests is a surprisingly manual process. “Schemathesis” is a framework and standalone open-source tool that aims to reduce the burden of writing test cases, accelerate testing cycles, and uncover cases that manual (even if automated) testing often misses. This tool is used in projects by companies like Spotify, Netflix, RedHat, Kiwi.com, and WordPress. In our session, the tool’s author will share insights about schemathesis internals along with meaty details about development and adoption challenges.

Dmitry Dygalo is the main author and core contributor of “Schemathesis”. Software Engineer with more than 12 years of experience specializing in Rust and Python with a focus on writing parsers and fuzzing. Currently works at Workato focusing on building high-performance interpreters in Rust. Passionate about open-source, software quality, and performance.
