What we're about
Poudre Wilderness Volunteers (PWV) is an organization that supports the United States Forest Service (USFS) in patrolling nearly 70 forest and wilderness trails in Northern Colorado on horse and on foot.
September 6, 2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act, one of our goals this year is to improve the wilderness skills of our members patrolling in the Canyon Lakes Ranger District.
We will be teaching authority of resource, Leave No Trace principles, basic & ultralight backpacking, GPS, map & compass, trail maintenance, wilderness first aid & CPR, safety & survival and other supplemental training classes for our members and others. Plus, we plan to offer a number of outdoor experience hikes or backpacking this year in one of four wilderness area: Cache La Poudre, Comanche Peak, Neota and Rawah.
