Python CodeSprint

Details

From June 22 to 24, 2016 the GeoPython Conference takes place at the FHNW in Muttenz. As a pre-event there will be a Python CodeSprint*, where anyone can join (for free) and realise anything Python related, it doesn't have to be Geo-related.

Help will be provided for both Python newbies and professionals.

There will be some free food and drinks. Lunch in not included, but the Mensa & Cafeteria is close.

If you want, you can present your project in a special GeoPython session on Friday June 24.

*A CodeSprint is a gathering of a bunch of programmers to complete short, rapid development projects. It allows developers from different companies to work together and learn from each other. Most importantly, it's a fun time where some impressive advances in interesting projects can be done.

Some code sprints are:

· Light weight implementation of the WPS standard ( www.pywps.org (http://www.pywps.org/) )

· PySpark – The goal of the sprint will be to look at the architecture of SpatialSpark and see how we can cleanly add Python bindings! It should give us an insight into how Apache Spark works ( https://github.com/sabman/SpatialSpark ) - starting in late afternoon

· ImagePyJackal - Implement Python code using ROSPy for the UGV "Jackal" and a 360° GoPro Rig ( http://wiki.ros.org/rospy https://www.clearpathrobotics.com/jackal-small-unmanned-ground-vehicle/ )
