Epigenetic modifications are relevant changes to the genome that do not alter the base sequence itself. These modifications are, amongst other things, involved in the development of cancer and in evolutionary biology. That is why an efficient detection of these alterations is of major interest for medical and research applications, but currently established methods are comparatively slow and complex.

A possible solution to this problem is to detect these changes by use of the novel Nanopore-Sequencing technique, where single DNA-strands can be efficiently analysed. Based on experimental data generated via this approach, I implemented a ML-based solution that is able to detect the few modified bases in an otherwise unmodified DNA-strand.

• 19:50 - Fabian Werkmeister - "How to build an interactive dashboard with bokeh"

My capstone project at neuefische in Hamburg was titled "FC Python" and consisted of predicting the market value of football players with individual player ratings from the video game "FIFA 20".

One of my main deliverables was an interactive dashboard I've built with bokeh, in order to present my results. I will show the dashboard and then work through the underlying code, i.e. show

1. how to build a plot with bokeh in general
2. how to add different neat features to the plot
3. how to add interactivity to the plot (i.e. the user can decide, which data is shown in the plot, based on his input)

Bio:
I'm Fabian and coming from market research, I wanted to dive deeper into data. I participated in a bootcamp to make my first steps in data science and am already loving every aspect of it! Currently looking for opportunities to begin my data science career.
