• 19:00 - Using Numba Effectively Today // Cheuk Ting Ho
Talk description:
Numba is syntactically easy to use - just add a decorator, but actually very hard to use effectively. The reason being it is difficult to understand what Numba does to speed up the numeric operation. This talk will provide all the basic knowledge that you need to make Numba works for you.

Speaker's bio:
After having a career in data science, Cheuk now brings her knowledge in data and passion for the tech community as the developer advocate for Anaconda. Cheuk constantly contributes to the open-source community by giving free talks and tutorials and organize sprints to encourage diversity contributions.

Talk description:
When working at an Earth imaging company you face a diverse set of challenges every day. A lot of them can be solved with Python. This talk is a collection of the interesting challenges that I've come across so far, how they came up and which tools I've used to tackle them.

Speaker's bio:
From learning about Python in a Game Design course (and never thinking about using it again), through studying Cartography (and having no exposure to programming) to working at Planet and using it daily. As a Geospatial Data Engineer I now focus on automation and making the lives of my colleagues easier, while also doing a fair bit of data engineering and analysis.

Talk description: Quick introduction to Haystack framework and practical example on how to use haystack and deploy a working NLP solution to enhance human-led services.

Speaker's bio:
I am a Machine Learning engineer with experience applying various AI tools in different startups, focusing on text data and NLP solutions. Currently I am working at Fitmate Coach, leveraging state of the art technologies to make Human-led services accessible to everyone.
