PyBerlin 48 - ☀️☀️July event ☀️☀️

Details
Agenda:
• 18:30 - Opening doors of the venue
• 19:00 - Welcome to PyBerlin! // Organisers
• 19:10 - Welcome from the host - Docmetric GmbH
• 19:20 - From Cronjobs to Apache Airflow: Enhancing Our Data Infrastructure // Moritz Geiger
In this talk, we will explore the evolution of our data infrastructure, which began as a startup utilizing Python pipelines managed by cronjobs. As the complexity of our data operations grew, it became evident that a more robust orchestration tool was necessary. This talk will detail our journey from the initial use of cronjobs to the deployment of Apache Airflow, highlighting the challenges we faced and the solutions we implemented to enhance our data management capabilities.
Speaker's bio:
Data Engineer at docmetric. Building Data Infrastructure for health data.
• 19:50 - Short break
• 20:20 - Low effort configurable python: type hints and dependency injection // Mauricio Villegas
Have you ever wanted to make a python project configurable and found it daunting? Are you unsure why making a project configurable might be important? In this talk I will describe how pytorch-lightning's LightningCLI was designed such that ML developers could automatically make their code configurable with minimal effort. Focus will be given to the use of dependency injection. Then I will explain how the same techniques can be easily applied on your own projects by using jsonargparse.
Speaker's bio:
Mauricio is currently a Lead Data Scientist working at omni:us, a startup focused on automating insurance claims processes. He has vast AI/ML experience, particularly in the topic of information extraction from documents. Passionate advocate of open source and python. Author of jsonargparse and pytorch-lightning's LightningCLI among other open source projects.
• 20:50 - Exploring Creative Fusion: Robotics, 3D Printing, and Python with OpenCV, TensorFlow, and Beyond // Joffre Nuñez Rodríguez
Are you fascinated by the endless possibilities of Python programming? Join me for an exhilarating exploration into the fusion of Python’s power with cutting-edge technologies like OpenCV and TensorFlow. In this talk, I’ll unveil how these libraries, coupled with microcontrollers such as Raspberry Pi, are revolutionizing robotics. We’ll delve into the realm of 3D printing, using it to design and create robots capable of interacting seamlessly with their environment and engaging audiences. Whether you’re a Python enthusiast, a tech aficionado, or simply curious about the future of robotics, this session promises to ignite your imagination and showcase the extraordinary synergy between creativity, technology, and Python.
Speaker's bio:
Hello, I’m Joffre Nuñez Rodríguez , originally from Venezuela, an engineer specializing in humanoid robotics, with a unique dual career as a professional violinist. My journey has taken me from performing with esteemed orchestras like the Deutsche Oper Berlin and Rundfunk Sinfonie Orchester Berlin to exploring the innovative realm of robotics. I am passionate about integrating my artistic creativity and technical expertise, particularly through Python programming. I’ve collaborated on various projects, leveraging Python libraries such as OpenCV and TensorFlow, and mastering microcontroller-driven motor control with Raspberry Pi and Arduino. My ultimate goal is to pioneer advancements that blend artistry and technology, shaping the future of humanoid robotics.
• 21:20 - Closing session // Organisers
This event will be only in-person. Please check our Code of Conduct and official health regulation in Berlin before coming. If you feel some signs of sickness, please consider skipping this event and attending another time. We will have plenty of events in different formats in the future.
