As long as a language exists, there will be a community of speakers. Python is no different. Even though some developers might never talk to anyone outside their offices, there still exists a huge community of support that in my eyes, is as important as programming itself. Unlike natural languages, we have to create our own community. How we do that, and why it's important, especially to new people dictates the life of our language. I'll take you through my journey in the Python and Django Communities in Berlin and Europe, and how the people here became some of the most important people in my life. I don't believe in the phrase self-taught programmer, since there exists a more accurate phrase: community-taught programmer.
