Speaker workshop/discussion meetup
Details
We're doing something a little different this month! We know a lot of folks in the community have ideas and work they'd like to share, but may not have experience speaking or may need some tips for developing materials. So for this month, we want to spend time supporting those folks in our community.
EDIT 5/19/21
We're going to rearrange the event a bit and have some structured short sessions with some experienced speakers focused on topics related to developing and giving presentations. Afterwards, we'll have breakout rooms to either discuss the topics brought up in the sessions or to work on ideas for presentations.
AGENDA
7:00-7:15: Welcome and intro
7:15-8:15: Short sessions with speakers
8:15-9:00: Breakout groups/workshopping
Our speakers will include:
Andrew Therriault (Founder at Civin): Developing your speaking style
Allen Downey (Professor of Computer Science at Olin College): From Jupyter notebook to presentation
Ben Batorsky (Data Science at Ciox): Finding a venue and submitting
Feel free to bring whatever projects you're working on and we'll spend some time discussing during breakout sessions.
