PyData August Meetup: Interactive!
Details
Interactive Session
Bring your laptop! I am preparing an interactive data analysis challenge. Work with others to tackle a dataset and generate some insights and give a quick lightning talk on what you discovered.
We have free PyData stickers for your laptop!
Preparation
Please download the StackLite (https://github.com/dgrtwo/StackLite) dataset before the meetup. It's a dataset of Stack Overflow questions.
Also, please install the Anaconda (https://www.continuum.io/downloads) distribution (or install scientific python by other means) before the meetup.
There is wifi on site, but it's a bit tricky to access for non-university people.
Details
Slides are up on github at https://github.com/sechilds/pydata_aug2016
The meetup will take place on the University of Calgary main campus.
Come meet other Data Wranglers and learn more about Jupyter Notebooks, pandas, Numpy, matplotlib, and related data science libraries.
If you are currently using open source data tools, we would love to hear about how you use these tools, what data you analyze and what problems you solve.
Presenting
We are looking for presenters for this meeting and future meetings. If you would like to make a presentation on a particular module, a data analysis you have done or another related topic, please contact the organizer.
Projects and Problems
If you're working on a sticky data analysis or having a problem using a particular tool or library, bring it along to the meeting. There will be time towards the end of the meetup to ask questions and work on projects.
Code of Conduct
To ensure the safety and comfort of attendees, we will be strictly following the NumFOCUS Code of Conduct (http://www.numfocus.org/code-of-conduct.html) at this event.
Questions, Comments, or Concerns
