Usually I am an advocate of the "Keep it Simple, Stupid" design principle, however doing so is easier said than done with so much fun tech available, as such, this talk will revolve around walking the fine line between simplicity and stupidity (aka. ambitions).
I will present a POC we made while I was working in the automation (RPA) team in our department. (spoiler: like other succesful POCs it's now running in prod, in a limited setting)
The purpose was to make a tool for annotating data, at first documents, to save our colleagues time when for example paying client invoices.
I will go over why and how the tool was made, including which python packages enabled our first iteration to work within a week, and why we didn't use enterprise software. Then I will talk about some of our results. Finally I will present some of our reflections and our future dangerously-close-to-stupid ambitions.
If all goes well you have learned some of my lessons, maybe you get a bit inspired, and perhaps we also have time to chat about how to walk the fine line of KISS in the future.
