In this talk, Dorothea Grkovic and Yelyzaveta Kyrylova, bioinformatics interns at the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics, will present their open-source platform that integrates 11 public biomedical datasets into a unified, ontology-mapped system.

The database enables:

* SQL querying of miRNA–disease, miRNA–target, lncRNA, SNP, and drug associations
* Disease–disease similarity analytics using Jaccard scores
* Visualizations with t-SNE, clustering, heatmaps, and interactive networks

Dorothea Grkovic is a bioinformatics intern at the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics and a data science student at UoL/LSE. She previously worked as a data analyst in the gaming industry and as a deals analyst in consulting. Her primary interests are in data-driven research, analytics, machine learning, and open science.

Yelyzaveta Kyrylova is a bioinformatics intern at the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics and an incoming PhD student at KCL. She previously built a pipeline to analyse single-cell transcriptomics data, uncovering immune pathway shifts in B cells. Her main interest is developing computational tools to support personalised medicine through disease diagnosis and progression prediction.
