To ensure a welcoming and inclusive community we expect all attendees to respect the PyData code of conduct, which in short means be nice. :) Also, to make sure our community is as diverse as possible, we will prioritize people from underrepresented groups in case the event has a waiting list. Let us know if you should be prioritized.

Session 1: Let's talk Data Engineering

Description:
- What is a data engineer
- Why a data engineer should not just write pipelines
- Picking the right tools
- Model your data
- Best practices

About the speaker: Vishwas Arunkumar is a Data Engineer at River Island. A data engineer with experience in building data platforms and a MSc in Data Science, he enjoys working with data and building simple scalable solutions.

Session 2: A deep dive into Ledger Databases

Description:

What's common between AWS QLDB, Oracle Blockchain Tables and immudb? They're all ledger databases. Ledger (immutable) databases are fast becoming the de-facto way to store immutable data. Although it is a relatively new technology, it's gaining widespread adoption. For example, `immudb`, an open-source immutable database, has 10M+ pulls from Docker Hub and 8K+ stars on Github. Ledger databases are cryptographically verifiable and highly scalable. They can be used both as a relational SQL database or a key-value store. Tamper evidence is built-in by design so in the event of a data breach we know exactly which data was tampered with. This makes ledger databases unique and a clear winner for a number of use cases.

About the speaker: Kamran Ahmad is a software engineer at Microsoft and has been building software for a decade. He's interested in distributed systems and is a Certified Solutions Architect.
