10th PyData Mallorca meetup

PyData Mallorca is proud to announce the 10th PyData Mallorca meetup, sponsored by Bluekiri (https://bluekiri.com).

What is PyData? PyData is a group for users and developers of data analysis tools to share ideas and learn from each other. We gather to discuss how best to apply Python tools, as well as those using R and Julia, to meet the evolving challenges in data management, processing, analytics, and visualization.

LOCATION

The 10th meetup will be held at the Universitat de les Illes Balears (UIB) (http://www.uib.cat).

Presentación sobre cómo se utilizan las tecnologías Big Fast Data en Bluekiri para mejorar el negocio con el uso de Machine Learning.

• Lightning talk 1: Estadística: errores habituales y diferentes enfoques: un caso de estudio, Irene García Mosquera, Profesor visitante del Departamento de Matemáticas e Informática de la UIB.

La estadística nos permite gestionar y cuantificar la incertidumbre, no sirve como oráculo. Existen diferentes enfoques: el clásico (frecuentista) que es el más utilizado, el no-paramétrico y el enfoque bayesiano. Discutiremos brevemente las diferencias, ventajas y desventajas de cada enfoque y presentaremos un caso de estudio sobre un problema abierto y de mucha actualidad: detección de puntos de cambio en una serie de tiempo. En particular presentaremos resultados sobre episodios de fibrilación auricular paroxística.

• Lightning talk 2: Redes neuronales de luz, Julián Bueno ( https://www.linkedin.com/in/julianbuenomoragues), PhD research at the IFISC, the Institute for Cross-Disciplinary Physics and Complex Systems (CSIC-UIB).

Julián nos hablará de los avances en implementación de redes neuronales y similares en dispositivos ópticos, donde la luz es el principal ingrediente. Son bien conocidos los éxitos de las redes neuronales en machine learning a la hora de desarrollar complejas tareas como el reconocimiento de patrones en datos. Estos algoritmos son procesados hoy en día principalmente usando dispositivos electrónicos digitales. Nos mostrará que la óptica ofrece ingredientes para crear redes neuronales muy diversas, donde la información se mueve con la luz y se procesa usando las interacciones no lineales entre luz y materia.
