Talk #1: Vega-Altair: A Simple, Friendly, and Powerful Data Visualization Library - Stefan Binder
Next to all the developments in AI, it’s easy to forget more basic — but no less essential — skills such as being able to make sense of your data in the first place through data visualization.
In this talk, I’d like to show you why Vega-Altair is a great tool for exploring data as well as communicating your findings to a wider audience. Its simple, friendly, and consistent API, built on top of the powerful Vega-Lite grammar, empowers you to spend less time writing code and more time exploring your data. You’ll also learn about advanced features such as server-side aggregation, about the history of the project, what stars have to do with it, and much more.
Talk #2: Tales of Data Science Soft Skills - Lars Roemheld
Some data scientists seem to be spectacularly productive, while others end project after project concluding that their idea somehow didn't work out. In this talk, I will share the personal and organizational "soft skills" that I have observed in others' great applied (data) science work. Learn 4 simple principles to become a better scientist! Or just attend this talk to make fun of my failures.
The talks will be followed by an informal Apéro riche kindly sponsored by QuantCo.
