Running Notebooks in Production? Blessing or Curse? Let's Find out!

Details
Abstract: Many data science teams have established a workflow where Jupyter notebooks are exclusively used for prototyping and refactored before deployment. However, this refactoring process introduces a huge overhead that slows teams down.
While there are successful use cases of running notebooks in production (most notably Netflix), this idea remains elusive for most practitioners since tooling remains closed-source and best practices are not well documented.
This thought-provoking talk will demonstrate the benefits of deploying notebooks with use cases from the industry. Furthermore, we will show how any team can embrace this workflow successfully with open-source tools.
Speaker Biography: Eduardo Blancas is the Co-Founder and CEO of Ploomber, a Y Combinator-backed company developing tools to bridge the gap between interactive data work and production. Before that, he was a Data Scientist at Fidelity Investments, where he deployed the first customer-facing Machine Learning model for asset management. Eduardo holds an M.S. in Data Science from Columbia University.
