Aloha Pythonistas!

It’s time for our May event and we have an outstanding one planned for you.

First, we’ll recap two events:

  • Swell AI+UX event put on by StratMinds VC, which happened right here in Honolulu. Many local community members attended, including several from PyHawaii. The conversations and talks were incredible and we’re trying to bring some of that energy and insight to PyHawaii.
  • PyCon 2024, which will be attended by a couple of PyHawaii members. We’ll give a quick recap of all the exciting developments and happenings in the Python ecosystem.

Next, we’ll move on to our keynote. Kevin Coyle will give us an introductory tutorial on Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), a technique that allows AI models to access relevant information from databases when generating responses. This enables models like ChatGPT to provide more accurate answers, making RAG a key methodology for building useful AI applications. RAG is a core concept in the hot field of AI Engineering.

Finally, we’ll finish it off with Lightning talks from the community. Last month’s lightning talks were absolutely phenomenal.

As always, this meetup is free for everyone and we’ll also have free food and drinks!

Proposals can be announcements, showcasing a new library or product, job openings, or anything that’s “here’s what I’m working on”. The goal is to improve networking and opportunities for discovery of everything related to Python here in Honolulu.
