PyLadies is an international mentorship group for marginalized genders in tech with a focus on helping our community become active participants and leaders in the Python community. The goal of this event is to kick off the Oslo chapter and we look forward to meet, chat about what we want PyLadies Oslo to be, and learn about data visualization!
You don’t need to be a PyLadies member to attend (but if you want to be, here is the link: https://members.pyladies.com/).

About the talk:
Improve your visualizations with 5 science-backed techniques
Visualizations can be incredibly effective for conveying a message and building understanding. However, some tasks are difficult to perform, placing higher demands on visualizations for us to draw correct conclusions in due time. This talk presents 5 science-backed techniques to strengthen your skills in creating effective visualizations, and shows you how to do it in Python!
About the speakers:
Gunnhild Svandal Presthus works as a data scientist at Statnett. In her day to day work, she uses data visualizations to explore and understand data, as well as communicating findings to end users. Gunnhild is one of the organizers of PyLadies Oslo.
Marie Roald works at the National Library of Norway where she uses Python to facilitate exploration and analysis of the library's digitized collections. Marie is one of the organizers of PyLadies Oslo.
