KIRA HARTLAGE: Basics of hardware with CircuitPython

Details

ABOUT TALK
Explore basic embedded hardware concepts with Kira Hartlage while she demonstrates how to use CircuitPython to control a Circuit Playground Bluefruit circuit board. The Circuit Playground Bluefruit has a microcontroller board and various sensors such as LEDs, capacitive touch buttons, motion sensor, thermistor, phototransistor, microphone, speaker, and more. The microcontroller comes preloaded with CircuitPython which is an easy to learn variant of Python designed for beginners to learn how to code for hardware with little to no actual hardware experience.

ABOUT SPEAKER
A mechanical design engineer turned embedded software engineer, Kira Hartlage brings a unique perspective to product design. She began her journey in software engineering by learning Python on her own. Nowadays, Kira writes mostly C code for microcontrollers in consumer appliances at GE Appliances, a Haier Company. Where reliability and quality are paramount, she always looks for simple design solutions as over-complication increases the chances of failure. When not coding, Kira enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, reading, and playing Animal Crossing.
