Dive into the world of Python Metaprogramming with Rafael, explore the essentials of IP rights in data science with Ekaterina, and unravel the details of open-source LLMs with Andrey. Connect, learn, and share insights with fellow Python enthusiasts! 🐍 🚀
Plan:
👉 18:30 Warm welcome, food, drinks, chat
👉 18:50 Introduction
👉 19:00 Rafael Kübler da Silva: "An introduction to Python Metaprogramming"
This talk will introduce metaprogramming concepts available in Python and their potential applications. Metaprogramming techniques leverage the language’s dynamic nature, offering developers the opportunity to craft highly adaptable code via higher-order functions, decorators, and metaclasses.
Rafael is a Software Engineer at Netlight, skilled in Python, C#, and Java. His journey through diverse sectors like Healthcare and Robotics has equipped him with a unique perspective and adaptable skills. He’s eager to share his expertise and enthusiasm with the PyMunich community, embracing both challenges and collaborative opportunities.
👉 19:20 Ekaterina Liseva: "Intellectual Property Rights for Data Scientists"
The talk will be directed towards the importance of IP rights and the types of IP rights applying to data science. Some answers concerning the ownership of data stored in databases as well as why nobody patents neural networks will be also covered. Some general aspects regarding the patenting of software inventions would be discussed as well as the IP rights behind Python.
Ekaterina is a Patent Engineer with 7 years of experience, and has a rich background in technical fields such as 3D printing and autonomous driving, making her well-versed in the intricacies of patenting for software and data innovations. Her international experiences, spanning from Germany to Costa Rica, have honed her ability to bridge cultural and technical divides, supporting inventors in their quest to protect their ideas.
👉 20:00 Andrey Cheptsov: "Leveraging open-source LLMs for production"
This talk examines using open-source LLMs for real-world purposes. It compares the benefits and drawbacks of open-source LLMs to proprietary options like OpenAI. The discussion covers the economics of hosting open-source LLMs, highlights serving frameworks, explores cloud GPU availability, gives an overview of key open-source LLMs, and shows how to run and fine-tune these models using the dstack open-source tool.
Andrey is the creator of dstack. He is passionate about open-source and developer tools. Previously, Andrey worked at JetBrains with the PyCharm team.
👉 20:20: Lightning Talks:
Mariatta Wijaya: "PyCon US insights"
Valeria & Alina from Tech-5: "Overcoming Imposter Syndrome in Tech"
