Unlocking Valuable Sports Insights: Analyzing SportsCode XML Files with DuckDB and Kloppy
This talk will explore how to extract valuable insights from SportsCode XML files using two powerful tools, DuckDB and Kloppy. By demonstrating how to leverage these tools for querying and analyzing player and match data, the talk will highlight the multi-purpose nature of SportsCode XML files. Ideal for coaches, analysts, and data scientists seeking to improve their analytical capabilities, this talk will provide practical examples of how to unlock valuable sports insights with DuckDB and Kloppy.

Adding context to football: How to implement a playing phase model in Python
The importance of context in football analytics will be discussed in this talk. Specifically, the talk will cover the benefits of contextualizing data using playing phases. By considering the specific playing phase during which events occur, the information gathered about player and team performance becomes richer and more insightful. Rogier will explain how to create a playing phase model based on your team's playing principles using Python (Event & Tracking Data) and how this model can be applied in practical settings.

Visualizing Football Data in 3D with Rust and Bevy
In his upcoming talk, Joris will discuss the next frontier of football data analysis, which involves the use of three-dimensional body pose estimation data. This type of data adds another dimension to the traditional x,y coordinate tracking data by providing information about players' body orientation and limb positions. Joris will introduce the basic concepts of rendering data in 3D using the Rust programming language and the Bevy game engine. He will also use an example dataset of x,y coordinate data to demonstrate the practical applications of this technology and to provide a first look at the future of 3D data rendering football data.
