Statistics for Data Scientists -- PyHou -- Houston Python Meetup
Details
Hello Pythoneers!
Horatio is presenting this month's talk on Statistics for Data Scientists with Python.
Are you "outside" the statistics world wanting to find a way in? How about refreshing your statistical knowledge and hopefully adding to it? If you've ever wondered what is meant by want to find a way in or people who want to refresh their statistical knowledge and possibly add to it. If you have ever wondered what is meant by probability, random variables, statistical inference, exploratory data analysis, etc., this talk will show you a roadmap to these concepts.
You have been told to use a t-test/principal component analysis to test/explore your data but why do you need it? What is under the hood? "We are not in Kansas anymore." The incredible amount of data available at our fingertips requires us to catch up with what is going on. There is no royal road to statistics but there is the Python way to statistics. All examples will be accompanied with Python snippets.
Our meetup is located at the Black Labrador Pub, near Richmond and Montrose. Please enjoy their menu and drink offerings, so they continue to enjoy hosting us! Lastly, please RSVP (even if you're a "Maybe"!) to assist us with capacity planning.
Share your Lightning Talks! A "lightning talk" is a quick mini-presentation (5 minutes maximum) on any Python topic you'd like. We'll save time for 2-3 of these each month: to save a spot, post a comment with your talk's title/topic. Beginner topics are always welcome!
Presentations Wanted: If you'd like to share a topic with the group at an upcoming, let's talk!
