Details

Hello Pythoneers!

George Hernandez will give us the scoop on VOLTTRON. The Eclipse VOLTTRON software platform is Linux-based, written in Python, and capable of running on small, single-board computers as well as in the cloud. It deploys applications known as V-agents that gain access to energy data via automation systems, identifying and diagnosing problems such as erroneous temperature settings. The technology offers passive capabilities that report a problem, as well as active approaches that actually fix the problem. VOLTTRON can be configured to use any protocol needed to interface with devices or data sources.

VENUE AND SPONSOR: Decisio Health ( https://decisiohealth.com/ ) has graciously offered to host our Python Meetup! We will be meeting at Decisio Health's office at 3900 Essex Lane, Houston, TX 77027, in the second floor conference area. Decisio Health is excited to sponsor the Python Meetup, and we are excited to welcome this new venue opportunity.

FOOD/DRINK: Decisio will be providing Food (both vegetarian and meat varieties) as well as water, beer, and soda. If you have alternate preferences, please feel free to bring your own (perhaps from Central Market, next door). If your company would like to SPONSOR FOOD/DRINK for an upcoming meetup, please get in touch.

Note that air conditioning ends and custodial services begin at 9:00pm. Feel free to mingle afterwards, however we need to exit the office itself by 9:30pm so office staff can go home to their families.

PARKING: Plenty of marked VISITOR spots are available in the garage. Please DO NOT use "Reserved" parking, especially "Reserved Kelsey-Seybold" parking. (Parking at Central Market is also possible but "at your own risk" regarding their towing policies).

Share your Lightning Talks! A "lightning talk" is a quick mini-presentation (5 minutes maximum) on any Python topic you'd like. We'll save time for 2-3 of these each month: to save a spot, post a comment with your talk's title/topic. Beginner topics are especially welcome!

Presentations Wanted: If you'd like to share a topic with the group at an upcoming, let's talk!
