2nd Wednesday Talk - Intro To Pandas For Data Analysis

Pandas is a great library for reading and manipulating data. Chris will give an overview of pandas, focusing on how to read in some common data types, create filters to specific table cells, apply functions to your data, merge tables together, and create nice plots as well as summary tables from your data. For an application, Chris will use some financial data, and briefly discuss his work at FinRA finding manipulative behavior in the US stock market.

Also, we're going to have another "after hour." After the presentation is over, anyone who wants to stay and do a bit of coding or chatting is welcome to hang out. Think of it like a mini open workshop.

Chris Malec is a physicist, teacher, and now a Data Scientist. He has been working at FinRA since the beginning of 2020. He first started using VPython to teach virtual physics labs as a graduate student in 2006, and has loved seeing Python gradually conquer the world.
