Reconnecting Humans with Nature Using Python and AI

Until recently, information about hiking events was scattered across various internet locations—hiking clubs websites, Facebook groups, and forums—making it difficult to stay well-informed about upcoming events. There was no sustainable way to collect and present this data in one place.

Thanks to recent advances in AI, this challenge is becoming solvable. In this talk, I'll share my approach to building a unified platform for hiking events using FastAPI, JavaScript, and the OpenAI API. You'll see how AI can help scrape and structure large volumes of unorganized web content, and how to visualize that data on a map.
I'll also present my ideas for evolving this platform into a new kind of social network—one that connects people through their shared love of the outdoors—and explain why I believe this project holds significant potential.
