Welcome to our September Python WA meetup!
We welcome Python enthusiasts of all skill levels. We'll be starting off with food and beverages at 5:30 pm, with talks beginning at 6:00pm.
Saving half a million dollars in 5 days with Python
by Josh Armitage
With a cloud bill north of $2 million a month and rising, traditional FinOps approaches often miss the wood for the trees. A spike of $50,000 a month becomes lost and not an instant cause for concern.
Knowing there’d be cloud bill skeletons to find, as a team of three engineers, we set aside a week to see what can be achieved with Jupyter notebooks, Boto and AWS Lambda.
The author of The Cloud Native Security Cookbook, Josh is an experienced leader, technologist, consultant and international speaker. Currently, he's the Chief Engineer of Cognizant's largest strategic partnership in the Asia Pacific region.
Trusted Publishing & Digital Attestations in the OSS Ecosystem
by Jordan Duabe
This talk explores how Trusted Publishing and digital attestations are used to increase trust in the supply-chain security of projects. Focusing mainly on Python (PyPI in particular), we’ll also take a look at usage and adoption in other software ecosystems and the underlying tooling.
A regular presenter at Python WA, Jordan is a polyglot developer with years of industry experience building web and mobile applications. His interests include building custom mechanical keyboards, playing video games, and hiking. He also dabbles in GIS (Geographic Information Systems), linguistics, and music theory.
