What we’re about

Q-STEM is a community-driven initiative that centers LGBTQIA+ people of all ages in science, technology, engineering, and math. It creates safe, affirming spaces for connection, mentorship, and visibility while supporting professional growth, learning, and collaboration. QSTEM focuses on equity, access, and representation—bridging technical excellence with inclusive community building.

Some things to know about us:

  • QSTEM meetups are relaxed, low-pressure gatherings designed for genuine connection rather than formal networking.
  • Events are hosted in LGBTQIA+-affirming spaces and inclusive local businesses, prioritizing comfort, accessibility, and community care.
  • Privacy and personal safety are core to QSTEM. Participation does not require disclosing sexual orientation, gender identity, labels, or personal details. Members are welcome to engage at whatever level feels right to them—whether openly, quietly, or simply as allies and supporters. No one is ever expected to be “out,” explain themselves, or share more than they choose.

QSTEM is intentionally designed to support individuals at all stages of identity, visibility, and self-discovery, including those who are not publicly out or are navigating professional environments where disclosure may not feel safe. Respect, confidentiality, and consent guide how we show up for one another, ensuring QSTEM remains a space where people can connect, learn, and belong—on their own terms.
