Reached your limits? Can QA leaders make the transition to CTO ahead of their Software Engineering counterparts?

The trend that in the industry is for Managers from a traditional Software Development background to be far more likely to make the transition to Director/CTO level.

Stats back this up. A simple search on LinkedIn shows us that out of the 14500 people who identify with being a CTO, just 5% are from a formal testing background compared to 41% who started out in software development. For anyone in a QA leadership role who is looking to progress, I can only imagine that these statistics are little, deflating?

But is this right? and what does it say about a companies commitment to Quality if QA Leaders aren't getting the same option to make this career step?

Understanding why this is, and how we go about changing it, could hold the key to how we really cement Quality Assurance, front and centre of the Tech career roadmap. Right now, it feels like a sits a little left of centre, but why?

On 20th April at 12pm, QA Babble x Woodrow Mercer Tech, we’re hosting a LinkedIn Live session, with a select group of industry experts who will share their thoughts and opinions on this crucial subject.
We'll be joined by;

Leigh Rathbone - Engineering Manager @ Cinch
Sadia Asim - Head of QA @ 10x Banking
Sachin Mylavarapu - Senior Quality Engineer
Justin Mckanna - Head of Software Quality Assurance @ Dyson
