WHAT DOES QODESHIM MEAN?
Qodeshim is Hebrew for “set apart ones”. We are called to live set apart lives, to not conform to the pattern of this world, but rather, to be transformed by the renewing of our minds.
We avoid obvious sinful actions, like drunkenness, drugs, and sexual immorality. We also go further, to avoid being naive, to avoid being destroyed by lack of knowledge, so that we can be as wise as snakes, yet innocent as doves. We research the scriptures, and increasing our awareness of history, to better understand the background behind many of the common traditions of today, and we do our best to make the most biblically wise choices, as to how we will live our lives.
Since we love Yahweh (God), we are committed to keeping his commands. We do our best to live biblical lives, by moving way from the worldly roots of traditions we grew up with, and by embracing in the compelling truths we see in scripture. While we aim to be perfect and blameless as we journey through life, we are aware that all will fall short. Thus, we thankfully accept Jesus’ salvation for anywhere we fall short. Still, we don’t want to abuse his grace, so we make every effort to repent, and live right.
We welcome all Qodeshim families who are also committed to living set apart lives, and we look forward to gathering with all who make a prayerful decision to fellowship with us.
WHO WE ARE:
We are African American Christian families who believe in reading the Bible in its entirety, obeying God's Commandments and Laws, and accepting Jesus' atonement for our sins. While we have similar beliefs & practices as our brothers and sisters in most traditional Christian Churches, we do differ on some topics with some groups, including holidays like Christmas and Easter (we are aware of the pagan roots many mainstream these days, and opt to recognize the life & resurrection of Jesus with in-depth study of the many Old & New Testament scriptures about Jesus). And, while we have similar beliefs & practices as our brothers and sisters in most traditional Isrealite groups, we do differ on some topics with some groups, including who can be saved (we believe all tribes (races) can be saved, so all like-minded believers are welcome to attend). We also make it a priority to interact with all individuals like-minded or not, with loving kindness & gentleness. To ensure we’re on the same page, such that we can all enjoy peaceful fellowship, please review what we believe prior to selecting to attend. (You can also find this document, and a document explaining Biblical Holidays in greater detail in my Prayer & Bible Study Workbook.) If you find that our families’ understanding of scripture are in alignment, please attend a 15 min Meet & Greet to officially join our group. (For the peace and safety of all families in our group, we request that all new members please attend the virtual Qodeshim Meet & Greet at least 1 week prior to attending an in-person gathering.)
Small Gatherings
We rest and feast from sundown on Friday, 'til sundown on Saturday. For now, we are meeting virtually via Zoom for a few hours on Saturday. To keep the environment similar to a small group, we've set it to a max of 7 families. Since space is limited, please reserve asap.
Virtual & In-Person Gatherings
We we meet virtually every other gathering (every other sabbath, every other moon feast, etc.), to include families from across the country, and so that we can enjoy like-minded company from the comfort of our own homes.
