"(Re)-using humans - data driven paradigm for improved translational research"

Drug development is a lengthy and expensive process with a high risk of failure. The explosion in 'omic level measurements in the past 15 years provides the grounds to for a disruptive shift for disease understanding and therapeutic development. I will showcase how a standardized quantitative framework for data-reuse can be leveraged for bettering mouse-human translation and novel target identification.

"Solving genomes by recycling junk data"

Solving genome sequences is the basis of genomic research, yet remains an open problem with important clinical implications. By analyzing high-throughput "junk" data from an experiment that is typically used for a completely different purpose, we reconstruct genome sequences far beyond state-of-the-art technology. This notion is now applied in academia and industry to solve dozens of major genomes, as well as for new applications in cancer and genetic disease.
