The ramming attack at the CSD parade has left many in the city in shock and with feelings of grief, anger, helplessness and fear. We believe that nobody should be alone with these feelings, and we would like to make room for them together. We would like to do this with a specific format adapted from the Speaking and Listening approach, which was developed by the NGO Mehr Demokratie. This approach has been field-tested in hundreds of events and has a range of benefits, among them increased trust, deeper connection, a feeling of belongingness, and more empathy for other people's life experiences. We hope this format can offer a small but meaningful way to process what happened, together.

This event is for anyone who feels affected by the attack - whether you were there, know somebody who was, or simply felt shaken after reading the news. You don't need any prior experience with this format, and you don't need to identify with any particular group to take part.

Here's a quick overview of how it works:

  • We will gather in small groups of 3-4 people
  • Each person has 4 minutes to speak per round, without interruptions or intermediate questions
  • Speaking occurs sequentially, one after another, without interruptions or intermediate questions.
  • The same 4 people speak three times each, i.e., there are 3 conversation rounds.
  • There is one leading question for all three rounds: "How do you feel about the attack at the CSD parade?"
  • After the formal conversation rounds are over, there is time for sharing in the big group and some informal time to connect.
